Shirley-Anne Blackadder
Trustee since 2010
Shirley-Anne has been a long time animal welfare volunteer and began supporting the Vancouver animal shelter in fundraising, spay and neuter programs and of course, by adopting a number of shelter cats and dogs. Shirley-Anne combines her interests in community, both human and animal, and has recently retired from a career in financial services.
Peter Finley
Trustee since 1995
Peter is a retired corporate lawyer who practiced with the Vancouver office of a national law firm. He has been involved with the Trust since it was founded in 1995. Peter and his wife Barb enjoy spending time at their cabin in Howe Sound with Molly, their Springer Spaniel.
Terry Feagan
Trustee since 2017
A retired Chartered Professional Accountant, Terry left behind a career in corporate finance to enjoy a more active lifestyle. Daily walks around Port Moody with ex-shelter dog Molly, gardening with ex-shelter cat Minnie, and lots of time for travelling with husband Gord keep her busy but leave time to volunteer with the trust fund. Terry has been involved with the BC SPCA Vancouver, for many years, primarily in fundraising.
Adele Lafleur
Trustee since 1995
Adele worked as a veterinarian in the SPCA Hospital for 25 years, retiring in 2011, and led the creation of the Trust in 1995. She continues her work with the Trust, hoping that one day every animal who comes to the SPCA in need of rescue, shelter, medical care, or a home will have their needs met. Adele now enjoys more time with her dogs Saffron and Peru and cat Hector, as well as volunteering for the Trust and other organizations.
Nancy Maloney
Trustee since 1995
As a clinical psychologist, Nancy worked for many years in the public sector helping underserved populations including hospitalized psychiatric patients, incarcerated individuals, and outpatient children and adults facing mental health challenges. For some years prior to her 2014 retirement, Nancy’s occasional post-secondary teaching expanded to a full time position at Douglas College. Nancy has served as a volunteer board member for several non-profit societies including the prior SPCA Vancouver Regional Branch for seven years. She served on the Animal Welfare Committee where the concept of the Trust Fund was first initiated. Nancy has also been a member of the community council at her local branch. She has shared her life with numerous Shetland Sheepdogs since the 1970s, some of whom have been foster placements from both the SPCA hospital and the Shetland Sheepdog Club. She is currently the caregiver of a senior sheltie and her partner, Bruce, who was disabled by a stroke in 2007.
Dr. Hatley McMicking
Trustee since 2020
Dr. Hatley McMicking has been in the veterinary profession for over twenty years and earned her veterinary degree from Western University of Health Sciences in 2016. Hatley previously led the veterinary team at the BC SPCA, providing strategic veterinary direction for the organization as well as seeing patients regularly. Recently Dr. Hatley started her own business, Sage Veterinary Services, providing patient care and business consultation services to both for-profit practices and non-profit organizations. She is passionate about the client-patient relationship and providing the best care available for each animal. When not in the clinic, Dr. Hatley can be found hiking, camping or on another outdoor adventure accompanied by her animals Ferris (dog) and Enzo (Cat).
Eric Stebner
Trustee since 2009
After a career of more than two decades as President/CEO of Akhurst Machinery, Eric retired in 2023, providing him greater time to pursue his many interests, which include cycling, and a commitment to animal welfare. His professional accreditations include a Fellowship with the Institute of Chartered Professional Accountants of B.C. (FCPA), and membership in the Institute of Corporate Directors. He served for nine years as Secretary/Treasurer of the Board of Directors of the BC SPCA, serving as part of his family’s efforts to help animals in need. Eric is reminded of the importance of the Trust’s work every day during time spent with his dog Victor, a rescue.
