Request for Proposal: Supporting Subsidized Veterinary Care for low income guardians in British Columbia
The Hospital Trust Fund is looking to award 3-5 grants ranging from $8k-$25k for the 2026 calendar year to support programs providing subsidized veterinary care for low income pet guardians (owners) in British Columbia.
Applications Due: July 31st 2025 11:59PM
More about the grant:
The Hospital Trust Fund’s (“The Trust”) primary mission is to help offset the costs of veterinary care for low income individuals so that the human-animal bond is maintained. Central to that mission is working with charitable organizations delivering and/or coordinating subsidized veterinary services in the community.
The Trust focuses on funding work in the following key areas:
- Low-cost spay and neuter services;
- Medical care of stray animals waiting to be adopted or reunited with their guardians;
- Subsidizing medical costs to assist guardians otherwise unable to provide veterinary care;
- Education initiatives to promote awareness of responsible animal guardianship.
Basic Program Criteria:
- Awardee is a registered charitable organization in British Columbia.
- Awardee has existing experience in this space. Apologies, we are not funding brand new organizations or endeavours at this time.
- Programs must subsidize medical costs for guardians who are otherwise unable to provide veterinary care for their pet.
- Programs must have a process in place to clearly identify financial need for those receiving subsidized care.
- The Trust works directly with organizations and not pet guardians/owners; case management and paying for services is entirely managed by the organization running the program.
- Funds will be distributed at the end of 2025 for use during the 2026 calendar year.
- Additional program criteria are provided with the RFP/Grant Application.
